My internet started playing up last week. Apparently there is a fault with the line which is in the conduit under my garden. The guy tried to pass a new cable through, but could not manage. To save me having to dig up the garden, is there any tooling I can buy/rent that will allow me to clear the conduit? It looks like a PVC pipe, so I am wondering if I can pass my Karcher drainage clearance kit down the pipe as a last resort.
I need to get it fixed before the fibre internet arrives, otherwise they won’t connect me up.

I have a set of drain rods that will clear any blockage, it has a bit you can fit on the end to push stuff through so I would have thought you could push a wire through, carefully.

Can you use the existing faulty cable to pull the replacement (and a draw wire for future) through?

I am going to try that, but it is a very thin phone cable. I have bought a 30m long fish tape to find out where the blockage is, and I will go from there. I only know where one end is at the moment.
I need to make sure it is clear enough to run a fibre optic through it.

It’s always easier to pull than push!
If you are on a time schedule for the new fibre and you can’t draw using the old cable I would be inclined not to waste time trying to fix it and just put a fresh conduit in.

Digging a 25m conduit from my garage, under the garden, and under a concrete wall is not going to be fun.

Here's hoping that you can get the fibre optic cable through, good luck Kevin.

I am hoping that I can at least identify where the blockage is, and then minimise the digging.

I have now found both ends, and it is blocked roughly half way down. The problem is, I don’t know where it goes….
So, my mad plan is to put the Karcher drain declogger down and hit the blockage with pressurised water. Hopefully that will clear the blockage, and save me a large sum of money.

The other option is one of those drain cleaning coils. I found a 20m long one. I will try the Karcher first, as I already have that.
If I start from the garage, all the water should go out into the garden.
It seems that the conduit (pvc flexible pipe) was left uncapped by the telegraph pole, so about 30 years of crap and dead insects has probably fallen into the pipe. The pipe is already moist inside, so adding a bit more water can’t harm…

I have moved the blockage slightly. Not had much time recently. I am hoping to get it sorted next week, when I am on holiday.

I spent the morning on this. It is blocked, and I can’t unblock it. I have a feeling it may be caused by a tree root crushing it.

Had to dig up the path above it, excavate and replace. Hopefully you can work out where the root causes the problem and dig out just the bit needed Good luck
