On my quest for a replacement of my Amphion 3LS, I have always been intrigued by the Dali range, to this end I am going to ask a dealer I use if they have a pair I can demo, both at their place and then if I want to hear them at home, I can. First tho just want to ask if anyone has them or heard them, and IF it would be a up/down/sideways move. The speakers I have in Mind are the Dali opticon 8 mk2 speakers

I had the Opticon 5's . . . for about 5 minutes. Bass shy, no impact. Drivers (their hemp/wood/paper-mache things) sounded very clear but way too polite, they just did not excite in any way.
I'm sure the 8's with more drivers and incresed cabinet volume are better (and they are specifically designed for larger rooms) . . . but if it's the same sound 'signature' they may be a little underwhelming. That's how I found the 5's anyway.
I'm sure they are okay as they reviews are mainly decent but around the 2k mark there is a lot of choice.

My only experience with Dali speakers was when I took a friend to RS for a dem of speakers up to £1k. We heard a pair of Dali's, model unknown, sounded thin and more treble oriented, although many seem to like this brand, I know you are looking at something better than we heard.

Bass is not a problem as I use 2 Rels S8/12 subs. And as have mentioned elsewhere Floor stand speakers are for my health reasons, as balance is not great, and if went stand mounted, I may knock them over

Even with subs (as I was running a pair of REL's at the time too) they were lacking as the subs only helped up to about 70-80Hz. The 8's do look a lot more serious but as they have similar drivers, I wondered if they may still have that same signature. If you can get a no pressure home demo then the proof will always be in the listening!

I’ve heard the Epicon 2s a few years ago and was really impressed.
