Over the past few months I have been looking for a speaker upgrade, as have commented on thse pages. I have demoed at a couple of dealers near me, and am still convinced that the ATC SCM 40's are the way to move forward. I did tell the dealer that there was no way on this earth I was accepting there trade in of £600 for my Amphions, so with family health problems (partners had breast cancer thats now sorted) out of the way, I have reconnected with the dealer in question, and have said if they can re negotiate the trade in price, I might re evaluate the situation My other dealer has suggested some Dynaudio floor stand speakers, they might be worth a listen, and IF I like them , can arrange for a home demo

Pete not being an expert on ATC speakers are they the active or passive ones ? Reason I ask and this only my view I was not exactly blown away by the passives and found my attention wandering a bit . The actives on the other hand were a very different animal and I just loved them . If I had the cash I could easily live with a pair and not really want to look for anything else .

The ATC speakers are passive. IF, IF I had not just recently purchased my new PS M700's, them I would consider going active, but would loose so much money on them and the 6 month old TQ Black II cable

Pete fully understand and appreciate very much that money is tight for all of us now . As I said not speakers I think I could live with but your views will be different .

those speakers of yours would fetch at least 1k in a private sale !! especially with good pics
probably need at least dynaudio contour range to superpass your amphion. the evoke will just be a sideways move imho

IF I decide to go down the Dynaudio Evoke 50 route, have just been given a fantastic trade in of some £1400, which is £50 more than I paid 2 years ago

As I said the regular dealer that I use has a pair of 30's on hand, so going to give them a listen, and if I like the sound will prob go for the larger Evoke 50 models in black to match my subs and other gear

I am starting to second guess myself now, as been told they need plenty of "free space" around the, compared to some others... Jeez, doing my research is never boring

oh dear, just had another speaker shown to me, and I feel I should hear, as they are made just a few miles from where I was born and grew up, until 1994, they are the Kudos Cardea C20 Loudspeakers, made in Willington county Durham. I am loosing the will to live now (joking)

I will throw my hat into the ring and say you should at least listen to a pair of Quadral speakers. Our Mr C is the UK distributor for Quadral and I am confident he would not entertain anything with a lacklustre performance.
