As an organ nerd, I have always wanted the CD release of the famous EMI recordings of the Great Cathedral Organ Series. My late best mate, David, who had one of the biggest collection of organ music in the UK had both the Mono AND the stereo versions, released on 19LP's. They were recorded in the mid 1960's, and featured then famous cathedral organists, playing the organs before they were "rebuilt",( often very badly). The recordings by 2023 recording standards sound as good, as if some of them were recorded this year and not 1964.
EMI did a good job of remastering them from the original analogue tapes and putting them out on 13CD's and inc a CDrom disc with the original artwork and specifications

Don't know much about classical, let alone organ music, but do know I love Toccata & Fugue through my MLs which go down to 23 Hz. Think I will have to have a hunt on Qobuz, but not sure what to choose, peterthebutcher help me out here mate.

He used a Decca Tree technique and further back in the hall had a couple of 2Keach Sennheiser mics (5 in all). he used a reel to reel, beta max recorder as well as a modern PCM enabled PC running Reaper I think. I sponsored this recording, making it for me a very expensive SACD disc (£1500 ) He has just a few videos on YouTube, The recordings all have a proper bass track (.1/2) All his mastering is made on Giya Spirit speakers, as he does a fair bit of work or Laurence Dickie. A good sample of the SACD from Rochdale is a 2/3 minute piece. this is proper 16hz stuff(my subs can only do 19 tho)
