Does anyone have a 12V LPSU they could spare for a week or two? I'm wanting to test its effect on my router before taking the decision to order a transformer and build one.
Thanks, Bruce

Just grab one of these, probably as cheap as 2 way postage for a loan LPS and you get to keep it.

These are the heavy 80s style Tx wallwarts not current lightweight shite. Maybe not the full monty LPS but a quiet alternative and I hear an improvement over an smps, where I use them.

I picked up one of these... and it does change the sound over the stock SMPS. But is it better? From about 400Hz down the sound has more meat and weight, but in the higher frequencies the SMPS produces better transients and dimensionality. Not a clear winner though between them I prefer the SMPS. Since it does show me that power supply in the router makes a difference to the sound, it is likely I'll invest in building a 12V linear power supply for the router.

Interesting experiment to prove there is a difference in sound.

Bit late to the thread, but that is not a LPS, but an alternate SMPS. DG…
